About the Author

Esther Franklin first became interested in Thomas Jefferson's personal library while teaching courses in the School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Washington. She has spent over ten years researching and writing the novel, including living three years in Charlottesville, Virginia. Her hope is that it will be of special interest to individuals of mixed heritage -- not the least those who have grown up without a father who acknowledges them.
