Leo's Coney Island Opens for Business in Dearborn

Restaurant's Mission Focuses on Helping Local Community

DEARBORN, MI--(Marketwire - June 2, 2009) - A new Leo's Coney Island restaurant, www.leosconeyisland.com, has opened its doors for business at the southwest corner of Greenfield and Ford Roads in Dearborn. The family-owned, full service restaurant seats approximately 200 people and is entirely smoke-free.

The first Leo's Coney Island was opened in 1972 and has since expanded throughout southeastern Michigan. Over the years, the menu has also evolved from the basics of Coney Islands, fries, burgers and Greek salads to a wide selection of homemade dishes for the whole family, including Greek specialties, halal meats, breakfast items and a kids menu. Many of the menu selections are available for off-site catering.

The Leo's Coney Island in Dearborn is owned by Ken Vlahadamis, in partnership with Bill Kanellopolous and Tony Gamoloush.

"We're excited about being in Dearborn and partnering with the local community," said Vlahadamis. "Our mission, in addition to serving great food, is to support local events and worthwhile causes, so we look forward to meeting our neighbors and learning how we can participate."

Vlahadamis, who has been in the restaurant business for 12 years, shared that he is also very particular about ensuring cleanliness and consistency as well as friendly customer service.

"We want to thank the City departments and others for helping us open as quickly as possible. Indeed, it means jobs for 40 people, which is critical in today's economy," added Vlahadamis, who shared that his restaurant was overwhelmed with more than 400 applications for employment.

Leo's Coney Island in Dearborn is located at 5575 Greenfield Road and is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday, and from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
