QLogic 12000 Series QDR InfiniBand Switches Now Generally Available and Shipping to Channel Customers Worldwide

Advanced QDR Switch Technology Backed by Award-Winning Channel Expertise Gives Resellers Competitive Edge

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., June 8, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Building on a growing base of OEM customers for its end-to-end quad data rate (QDR) InfiniBand(r) solutions, QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq:QLGC), a leading supplier of high performance network infrastructure solutions, today announced that QLogic(r) 12000 Series 40Gb/sec QDR InfiniBand edge and director switches are now generally available and shipping through authorized QLogic distributors and resellers worldwide.

QLogic's innovative QDR switch products are backed by the company's award-winning channel expertise including QLogic SignatureHPC, the industry's first enterprise-class InfiniBand channel program. QLogic partners can leverage the SignatureHPC program to meet end-user demand and gain easier access to the high performance computing (HPC) market.

"This is a significant milestone in the advancement of InfiniBand technology into the HPC marketplace," said Jesse Parker, vice president and general manager, Network Solutions Group, QLogic. "The availability of QLogic QDR switch technology and channel programs to a wide range of distributors and resellers will make it easier for a significantly broader range of organizations to buy and implement QDR InfiniBand solutions to power their real-time computing clusters."

"With 864 ports and bandwidth of 51.8 terabits per second, the QLogic 12000 series is the highest capacity general purpose QDR InfiniBand switch on the market today," said David Vellante, co-founder and principle contributor at Wikibon.org. "The huge bandwidth of this solution brings HPC customers better scale-out performance, lower latencies, simpler management and reduced costs."

Based on QLogic's advanced TrueScale(tm) Architecture, the 12000 Series represents a new class of InfiniBand switches for the HPC market. QLogic 12000 Series QDR InfiniBand switches offer significant advantages over comparative products, including 160 percent more connectivity options (864 ports); 100 percent more aggregate bandwidth (51.8 terabits per second); and up to 20 percent less power consumption (7.8 watts per port).

Through the QLogic InfiniBand Fabric Suite, the 12000 Series simplifies InfiniBand networking with automated installation, configuration, and monitoring of the fabric. The InfiniBand Fabric Suite also provides QoS and flexible fabric partitioning that improves the utilization of InfiniBand resources and adapts to the evolving requirements of an organization.
