King & Spalding Wins Chambers USA Award for Excellence for Second Consecutive Year

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - June 12, 2009) - King & Spalding, a leading international law firm, announced today that its international trade practice is the winner of a Chambers USA Award for Excellence 2009. This marks the second consecutive year that the international trade practice has been recognized with the award. The annual awards recognize pre-eminence in practice areas and noteworthy achievements over the past year, including outstanding work, impressive strategic growth or excellence in client service. The award was presented June 11 at a ceremony in New York City.

Chambers' extensive research process combines twelve months of unbiased and professional research interviews carried out for the Chambers USA guide by 50 experienced researchers, with an evaluation of each lawyer's significant legal achievements.

In addition to winning the international trade award, King & Spalding was a finalist in the international arbitration and construction categories. The firm's international arbitration practice was also a finalist in 2007 and 2008.

"This award acknowledges the strength of our international trade practice, and underscores our investment in our global practices and development of top legal talent," said Robert D. Hays, Jr., chairman of King & Spalding. "We are also proud of our international arbitration and construction practices for being selected as finalists. The recognition these three strong practice groups have received from Chambers is a tribute to the dedication and professionalism of an extraordinary group of attorneys who stand out among the best in their fields and who consistently deliver successful results for their clients."

King & Spalding's international trade practice group consists of more than 40 lawyers and trade professionals, including economists, foreign legal consultants and accounts, who advise clients on a wide range of international trade matters, including trade remedies, World Trade Organization (WTO) matters, export controls, sanctions, customs, inward U.S. investment (Exon-Florio/CFIUS), and trade policy and negotiations. In addition to the largest anti-dumping case ever brought against China, the group was also the first in 15 years to successfully file a countervailing duty petition in the United States against subsidized imports from China.

"We are honored to be recognized again by Chambers as a result of numerous interviews they have conducted with our clients and peers," said Stephen A. Jones, chair of King & Spalding's international trade practice, who accepted the award on behalf of the firm. "This is the result of strong contributions from across the practice group on numerous different types of matters, and it is a testament to the dedication of our lawyers, consultants, paralegals and secretaries. It is very rewarding to be recognized for the quality of our work, the service we are providing and the success we are achieving for our clients."
