Componenta will merge the Group's two foundry business units in Heerlen, in the
Netherlands, into one foundry entity. The foundries of Componenta Heerlen HWS
and Componenta Heerlen Furan will be merged as from 6 July 2009, as Componenta
Heerlen. Through this merger Componenta increases operational effectiveness and
daily management efficiency.
In the new foundry there will be two moulding lines, one green sand automatic
moulding line (HWS) and one furan resin, semi-automatic moulding line. These
two lines are served by one common melting shop, core shop and maintenance
department. Daily operations in both lines are taken care by their own foundry
professionals as earlier, but from now on operating under one management. Other
departments like quality, engineering, logistics and HR will also merge to one
organization.
Total amount of the personnel in this new merged foundry unit will be 330.
Until autumn 2010 the amount of personnel will decrease by 12 persons through
pensions, contractual ending of employment contracts and relocations to other
functions.
In accordance with the merge the following appointments have been made.
Boudewijn Stals has been appointed Business Unit Director of the new Componenta
Heerlen foundry. Previously he was Business Unit Director of Heerlen HWS. Bert
Duit, former Business Unit Director of Heerlen Furan, has been appointed
Director, Material and Foundry Technology. His responsibilities include among
others Tegelen Pattern Shop, Componenta level metallurgy as well as quality
systems and environmental management in the Netherlands. Both Stals and Duit
report to Olli Karhunen, SVP, Foundries division.
Business Unit Director of Weert Machine Shop Ruud Pisters has been appointed as
Production Manager of the new foundry unit Componenta Heerlen. Former Manager
of Logistics, Quality, Environment and Tegelen Pattern Shop Marcel Smeets has
been appointed Business Unit Director of Weert Machine Shop. Marcel reports to
Michael Sjöberg, SVP, Machine shops division.
