Digia Plc Press Release 22 June 2009 Digia delivers remote identification system to Yara fertiliser plant Digia has delivered a remote identification system to the Uusikaupunki fertiliser plant of Yara Suomi Ltd. This project involved piloting remote identification technology (RFID) through production lines for the bagging up and collection of large fertiliser sacks. "The number of collection errors fell considerably, and operations speeded up. For example, it was possible to enter broken sacks into the system directly with the help of manual terminals. The pilot project proved that RIFD technology is ideal for our purposes", comments Olli Saarinen, Material Handling Supervisor at Yara. "Digia has delivered several RFID solutions, in which the data content of RFID is utilised seamlessly in ERP systems, e.g. in trade and logistics. This pilot will reinforce Digia's position, especially as an RFID solution provider for production companies", says Vice President Roy Nurmi of Digia. RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is a method of so-called intelligent transport, whereby information can be read and saved remotely.
