The power situation in Norway as of 1 July 2009

Lysaker, 1 July 2009

Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE):
Increase in Norwegian power prices

Dry weather contributed to higher Norwegian electricity prices in the Nordic area in week 26 compared to the week before. Southern-Norway (NO1) had the lowest price, while Middle-Norway had the highest price of the Nordic elspot areas.

In Southern-Norway the power price was NOK/MWh 317 in week 26, up NOK from the week before. In Middle-Norway the prise increased with 18 kroner from week 25 to NOK/MWh 328 in week 26. It was no transmission capacity available between Middle-Norway and Sweden in week 26. This led to higher prices during night in Middle-Norway. The lack of transmission capacity between Middle-Norway and Sweden is due to work on the new transmission line between Nea and Järpströmmen.
