(Nasdaq:ENTR), a leading provider of silicon and software solutions to enable connected home entertainment, today announced that Dr. Tom Lookabaugh has joined the company as its Chief Technology Officer. Lookabaugh joins Entropic as a seasoned executive with more than 20 years experience in developing communications technology solutions for satellite, cable, telco and broadcast industries. As CTO, Lookabaugh will define and drive the company's technology and advanced architectures roadmap and will support the company's business strategy.
Prior to Entropic, Lookabaugh held a variety of executive positions including CEO at PolyCipher, a cable industry joint venture owned by Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Cox Communications where he led development of new cryptography and security systems for the U.S. cable industry. Prior to PolyCipher, Lookabaugh was faculty director for the Interdisciplinary Telecommunications Program and on the faculty of the Computer Science Department at the University of Colorado, president of the Convergent Systems division for Harmonic as well as president of the DiviCom division of C-Cube Microsystems. Lookabaugh has been at the forefront of technology development related to video communication, telecommunications and networking technology throughout his career.

With Lookabaugh's appointment as CTO, Dr. Itzhak Gurantz, co-founder, will move into an individual contributor role and will focus on long term technology initiatives for the company.
