Remember September, New England-Based Acoustic Rock Band, Plans August 8th Benefit for Soldiers At Walter Reed Hospital in D.C.

Part of Wounded Warrior Project

WASHINGTON and TRUMBULL, Conn., July 7, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Remember September, an acoustic rock band from Trumbull, Connecticut, has been invited to perform its second special benefit concert as part of the Wounded Warrior Project at 1 p.m., Saturday, August 8th, at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C. according to band manager, John Schod.

The outdoor event, which will be held for wounded soldiers, their families, and the staff at the hospital is "the band's tribute to the brave women and men who put their lives on the line in Iraq and Afghanistan," Schod said. "The concert will be sponsored by the Wounded Warrior Project, an international, non-profit group which raises money to assist veterans with food, shelter, clothing, medical and education."

Remember September is using all of its summer shows as drop-offs for get-well cards and gift certificates for struggling military families.

"These wounded veterans are fighting a daily battle to reconstruct their lives now that they have returned home," Schod stated. "We know we can't give them back the lives they had, but we believe that music has the universal power to help rebuild their spirit.

"We're so excited to have the opportunity to return again to this special place and provide an afternoon of music and fellowship to our soldiers and their families."

Lead singer Jay Schod added, "The hospital is very excited about us coming back again this year. I have written a special song, 'Do You Remember,' as a tribute to the children of our fallen heroes. It will be a bonus track on our upcoming CD, 'Can't Fix My Fixations,' which will be available around July 15th.

"In addition, we have created a new Remember September tee shirt that commemorates the Walter Reed Benefit Concert. We'll be selling the shirts at all of our summer concerts on the East Coast and through www.myspace.com/rememberseptember."
