ROTTERDAM, Netherlands, July 16, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today Payter, after a successful trial with mobile payments in Rotterdam (The Netherlands), introduces two versatile contactless readers the P10 and P25. The readers, devices for M-commerce services and payments, are the first contactless readers that combine serial, USB and TCP/IP connection into one device.
Based upon one platform; the readers support a broad variety of propositions such as payment, loyalty, ticketing and can be used as a transparent contactless reader. The P10 is a desktop model which can be placed on countertops or wall mounted for drive thru, box office windows and more. The P25 is a build-in model and can be integrated easily in a wide variety of products such as turnstiles, parking terminals and vending machines.

Tailor made
Since 2006 Payter has invested in the research and development of NFC solutions and applications, such as mobile phone applications and M-commerce services, including payment and couponing systems. "For our trial in Rotterdam we have developed readers tailored to the demands and requirements of any NFC ecosystem. Especially the availability of a TCP/IP connection in the readers enabled us to more efficiently roll out projects that were not possible with the devices available," says Remco Willemse.
Future proof
Both readers are based on a powerful ARM processor, enabling multiple applications and ensuring future scalability. The combination of a secure firmware download mechanism and a reader management system enables a cost efficient and future proof solution with complete control of the readers at all time. Both readers come with a provision for SAM module(s) and GPRS interface, enabling secure and advanced connections for payment and transit schemes.
Software development kit
To help developers reduce the time to market, lowering costs and risk, Payter is introducing the Payter Software Development Kit (SDK). The SDK contains tools to write NFC Tags and Mifare cards, including key management but also all necessary API documents, utility tools, demo programs and sample codes.
