A Book Paying Tribute to the 1972 USC Trojans is Released -- Author Bill Block Delves Into the Everyday Lives of the Players That Comprised One of the Greatest Teams in the History of College Football

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif., July 21, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In a new book released through Xlibris, Bill Block shares the stories of the players from the 1972 University of Southern California football team. Reliving the tales of the USC Trojans, Trojans 1972: An Immortal Team of Mortal Men captures these stories of forty-seven of the players -- beyond their glory days at USC, and into their everyday lives as men.

During the 1972 football season, USC went 12-0, winning the NCAA National Championship and becoming one of the greatest teams in the history of college football. But, whether as powerful as fullback Sam "Bam" Cunningham, as intellectually gifted as defensive back Marvin Cobb, or as massive as offensive lineman Pete Adams, each and every player from the '72 team eventually became like us -- mere mortals. Throughout the pages of this entertaining book, readers will unearth the story of the starting Trojan defensive lineman who spent eight years in the NFL before being forced to retire at age thirty because of numerous concussions, the tale of the three-time All-American player who struggled to find a coaching job in the game he loved, and the unusual story of the USC player who risked losing his fiancee when he turned his back on an insurance career in order to pursue his dream of becoming a Hollywood stuntman.

With each chapter presented as a mini biography, Trojans 1972: An Immortal Team of Mortal Men recounts the amusing yet inspiring lives of the Trojans as told through the eyes of each player. It provides readers a good mix of the humor, sorrow, passion, and lessons of being the mortals behind an immortal football team.
