The activity, entitled Science Saturday, gave Chicago-area residents a backstage pass to the engineering, science and mathematics employed by engineers at Northrop Grumman, a leading global security company.

On Saturday, July 18, Northrop Grumman opened its doors and toured over 40 participants ages 12 and up through the Rolling Meadows facility, stopping at informational exhibits that demonstrated the laser technology, radar systems, infrared cameras and acoustic sensors behind the defensive systems that help protect United States military personnel. The hands-on exhibits were presented by the Northrop Grumman engineers who develop and manufacture this cutting-edge technology.

Science Saturdays offer rare, behind-the-scenes tours at internationally known research facilities and labs as well as up-close examinations of the natural wonders of Chicago, surrounding communities and the universe.
