“HBAN reported a 2009 fourth-quarter net loss of $369.7 million, or $0.56 per common share. This compared with a net loss of $166.2 million, or $0.33 per common share in the 2009 third quarter and a net loss of $417.3 million, or $1.20 per common share in the year ago quarter. Average common shares on a fully diluted basis in the current quarter were 715.3 million, up 125.6 million (21%) and 349.3 million (95%) from the prior and year-ago quarters, respectively. To strengthen capital, during 2009, the Company raised $1.7 billion of capital, including $1.3 billion of common equity through the issuance of 346.8 million common shares.

“David Clifton has joined Huntington Bank as executive vice president, chief customer and marketing officer. Clifton will be responsible for managing and directing a major expansion of Huntington's marketing and branding initiatives, targeted to strategies that will grow revenue. He will report to Mary Navarro, senior executive vice president. Clifton is also responsible for leading a significant investment in customer experience and service programs that ensure Huntington customer satisfaction continues to grow across all bank segments. These initiatives are part of a larger effort to give customers more choice and convenience.”
