José Cordeiro writes about the human of the future on Finnair's future website

In autumn 2008 Finnair published an account of the future, namely visions of
flying in 2093. The discussion of the future continues on the internet, where
the latest writer, the renowned scientist and futurist José Cordeiro, ponders
the human of the future, who will not be solely a product of biological
evolution.

Cordeiro, Chair of the Venezuelan Node of the Millennium Project, is an
internationally distinguished scientist who envisions the future from a
multidisciplinary perspective.

"More biologically and computationally enhanced humans are just a few years
away. The human's supremacy as the only advanced sentient life form on the
planet will soon come to an end, supplemented by a number of post-human
incarnations," writes Cordeiro.

According to Cordeiro, biological evolution can be followed by technological
evolution, which may help facilitate space travel, for example. Read the whole

Finnair opened a discussion of the future, because the ability to envision the
future is a precondition of success. Only by looking forward will a company be
able to react to changes in good time and above all to influence its own
future.

"The future and the past are at least distinguished by the fact that we can
influence the future, but can do nothing about the past. That's why visions are
important," explains Finnair's SVP Community Relations & Corporate
Communications Christer Haglund.

In the book Departure 2093 - Five Visions of Future Flying, which was published
in 2008, Finnair enlists the aid of experts to highlight perspectives that are
both essential and fascinating when addressing the future of air travel.
Professor Sirkka Heinonen, a future researcher, and Pascal Huet, who is
responsible for strategy at Airbus, consider the future and growth of air
travel from the perspective of human movement. Professor of Environmental
Change Atte Korhola and IATA's Director of Aviation Environment Paul Steele, on
the other hand, shed light on the environmental impact of flying. The book is
sold in the Academic Bookstore and in Finnair Shop at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.
