BayWa AG: Provisional results for the financial year 2009
The Munich-based BayWa Group is releasing its provisional figures for the
financial year 2009 today. Detailed information on the Group's figures will
be presented at the Annual Results Press Conference on 31 March 2010.
Having being admitted to the MDax in September 2009, the BayWa Group has
decided to release its key financial data in advance for the first time.
The BayWa Group generated consolidated revenues of EUR 7.26 billion in the
financial year 2009 and, following the record year of 2008, has thus
returned to levels seen in 2007, in line with expectations. The decline in
revenues is primarily price induced. Accordingly, the Agriculture Segment
delivered revenues of EUR 3.27 billion as against EUR 4.05 billion posted
in 2008. The revenues of the Energy Segment stood at EUR 1.837 billion,
which is also lower than the previous-year's figure solely due to
price-induced factors. The Building Materials Segment will close the year
with revenues of EUR 1.776 billion (2008: EUR 1.79 billion), thereby
exceeding internal expectations.
The BayWa Group reports provisional consolidated earnings before tax of EUR
75.1 million. Consolidated net income comes to EUR 59.2 million and
earnings per share to EUR 1.32. Despite the considerably weaker
agri-business, the Group delivered a stable overall performance for the
year 2009, not least owing to portfolio streamlining as part of its
strategic repositioning.
