Arch Chemicals, Inc. Earns Canadian Registration for Omacide(TM) IPBC 30, 40 and 100 Fungicides

NORWALK, Conn., March 4, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Arch Chemicals, Inc. has been granted registration for use of its Omacide™ IPBC 30, 40 and 100 fungicides as dry-film paint preservatives by Pest Management Regulatory Affairs (PMRA), the agency responsible for conducting efficacy assessments on pest control products as well as industrial biocides for use in Canada. These broad-spectrum fungicides, based on IPBC (3-lodo-2-propynl-n-butylcarbamate) chemistry, inhibit the growth of mildew on latex paints and are used where a high mold hazard is present.

"The announcement of this latest registration further supports Arch's effort to continue to develop new, value-added formulations that provide numerous benefits to paint and coatings makers and their customers," said Mark Kenline, Global Business Director for Arch's Industrial Biocides Building Products business. "Arch is one of the leading, global providers of biocides to control the growth of fungi, mold and mildew on paints and other building products. This market leadership is a result of our regulatory, technical and toxicological expertise, as well as our unique ability to tailor biocides to satisfy our customers' needs."

Omacide™ IPBC 30, 40 and 100 fungicides are only three of Arch's extensive product line for interior and exterior paints, wallboard, ceiling tiles, flooring materials and carpeting that tackle the growing problems of mold, mildew and bacteria.
