The government decides on the two-year extension of the five patrol boats
building contract. 

The contract with JSC "Rīgas kuģu būvētava" was signed for 38.8 million LVL. 
Member of the Board Irina Rudzāte informed that the first vessel as a prototype
and the second vessel will be built in Germany, but the third ship, the parts
of which are expected to arrive in the beginning of  May, will be built in
Latvia. 
Ministry of Defense signed a contract with JSC "Rīgas kuģu būvētava" in
accordance with the Government's decision in early December 2007. This allowed
Naval Forces of National Armed Forces (NAF) to effect five patrol boats
building purchase from JSC "Rīgas kuģu būvētava" at the defined amount. 

It was originally planned to deliver the last ship of five in August 2012,
after the contract terms are changed, the delivery date of the last ship will
be altered to February 2014. 

Exact contract modifications have to be prepared. It is not yet not announced,
what might be a cost increase of 38 million LVL national order due to the
postponement of the two ships building. 
 
The first vessel as the prototype is being assembled in Germany. After the
prototype is built, simultaneously a building of the next two vessels shall be
commenced: one in Germany and one in Latvia by JSC "Rīgas kuģu būvētava".
