Rundfunk-Anstalt Südtirol expands Digital Terrestrial TV network with Net Insight's Nimbra platform

16 March, 2010

STOCKHOLM, Sweden - Net Insight, a leading developer of efficient and scalable
transport solutions for media, IP and broadcast networks, has received an
expansion order from Rundfunk-Anstalt Südtirol, the public broadcasting company
in the South Tyrol area, for its Digital Terrestrial TV network.

RAS (Rundfunk-Anstalt Südtirol) is a public broadcasting company providing
radio/television transmission covering the South Tyrol area, broadcasting in
german and ladin languages. In 2007, RAS selected Net Insight's Nimbra platform
for the initial phase of its DTT network and has continued to expand during the
last two years.
The main requirements for RAS are cost-efficient transport of ASI video streams
and digital radio (DAB) with guaranteed quality of service as well as highest
possible reliability. The solution has incorporated a fully redundant network
with Nimbra units as well as Net Insight's tool Nimbra Vision for efficient
network management and the unique Time Transfer feature for GPS-free time
synchronization.

It has been a successful cooperation and RAS is now further upgrading and
extending the network with six additional transmitter sites and thereby reaching
over 35 transmitters.

"We have been able to implement a Single Frequency Network (SFN) network in a
very short timeframe thanks to Net Insight's Time Transfer solution," says
Doctor Johann Silbernagl at RAS. "The GPS-free time synchronization feature has
far exceeded our expectations and we now have a perfectly stable and low-cost
time synchronization across our network."

"The roll-out of the Nimbra-based network has gone very well," says Hugo
Moroder, Project Manager at RAS. "The platform is designed for digital
terrestrial media networks and the multicast capabilities suits us to deliver
both digital TV and radio."

"We are glad to see that the DTT market is growing stronger again and many
customers are extending their DTT networks. This is our 5(th) DTT win during the
last months," says Fredrik Trägårdh, CEO of Net Insight. "Our Time Transfer
function is a great advantage and benefits broadcasters like RAS, who require a
network where the transmitter stations must be fully synchronized."
