Massachusetts High Technology Council Selects EnerNOC as Preferred Energy Management Partner

Company Helps Stimulate Local Economy by Helping Members Achieve 20 Percent Energy Savings

WALTHAM, Mass., April 8, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Massachusetts High Technology Council today announced that it has selected Boston-based EnerNOC (Nasdaq:ENOC) as its preferred energy management partner. Since 1996, participating Council members have shaped state energy policy and reduced energy costs by taking advantage of the Council's Energy Program. EnerNOC was selected for its ability to help member organizations address all aspects of energy spend, including procurement, peak demand management, overall energy efficiency, and carbon management and reporting, through a comprehensive suite of energy management applications. SourceOne will continue to provide energy management services to our members in areas not currently addressed by EnerNOC's offerings.

"For many of our members, energy is a significant operating expense. EnerNOC helps our members think about energy management holistically and create an energy management strategy that will have the most positive impact on their bottom lines," said Christopher Anderson, President of the Mass. High Tech Council. "EnerNOC already has a solid track record of delivering significant value to many prominent Mass. High Tech Council members. By formalizing this partnership, we hope to extend those benefits across our membership base."

EnerNOC's suite of energy management applications includes:

  • DemandSMART™ is a comprehensive demand response solution that pays businesses and organizations for reducing non-essential energy usage during times of peak demand. Participation in EnerNOC's DemandSMART – New England network helps prevent brownouts and blackouts, alleviate the need for energy suppliers to buy electricity off of expensive wholesale markets, and helps to delay the need to build new fossil-fuel burning generation resources.
  • SiteSMART™ is EnerNOC's data-driven energy efficiency solution. By leveraging data collected from advanced meter infrastructure and building management systems, EnerNOC analysts can identify significant no-cost or low-cost operational savings. SiteSMART also includes a robust feature set that supports full-scale commissioning and energy engineering initiatives.
  • SupplySMART™ is an energy price and risk management application that helps organizations in deregulated markets, such as New England, to achieve the most competitive supply terms and conditions while ensuring supplier accuracy.
  • CarbonSMART™ is an application and service that supports carbon measurement, tracking, and management to support environmental initiatives and compliance with voluntary and/or mandatory reporting requirements.

When used together, EnerNOC's energy management application suite can help businesses and organizations reduce their annual energy spend by 20 percent or more.

"Any one of our applications is a compelling value proposition on its own, but when used together, the value is greater than the sum of the parts.  Our applications are designed to deliver value across the entire lifecycle of a kilowatt or a BTU – from procurement through consumption and ultimately emission," said Tim Healy, Chairman and CEO of EnerNOC. "We're honored that the Massachusetts High Technology Council has recognized EnerNOC's ability to have a positive impact on its members, the Massachusetts economy, and the environment."

EnerNOC is holding an introductory webinar to its energy management application suite for MHTC members April 27th. For more information, email info@enernoc.com.

About the Massachusetts High Technology Council

The Massachusetts High Technology Council is composed of CEOs from the state's top technology employers who since 1977 have worked to make Massachusetts a more competitive place for technology growth by being a leading force in the areas that matter most to tech employers and their employees.  Whether it was creating the state's original R&D tax credit; leading the way to introduce retail electricity (reducing member energy costs by tens of millions of dollars from 1996 to 2010); providing the only Massachusetts perspective in support of federal securities litigation reform; or carrying the ball over the goal line to win FAA approval of the delay-reduction runway at Logan, the Council has been the leader for the technology industry in Massachusetts.  In 2004, the Council launched the Defense Technology Initiative, which led the state's efforts to preserve the state's two top defense technology installations, Hanscom Air Force Base and the Natick Soldier Systems Center.
