NCC to construct hydropower plant outside Lycksele for SEK 210 million NCC Construction Sweden has been commissioned by E.ON to expand the Bålforsen hydropower plant at Umeälven, outside Lycksele. The assignment, which is valued at SEK 210 million, is conditional upon a water-rights court ruling from the Environmental Court. Adjacent to the existing hydropower plant in Bålforsen, NCC will construct a new power station with a third turbine. Bålforsen is located approximately ten kilometers west of Lycksele, and the existing hydropower plant has two turbines. NCC's experience and know-how in constructing hydropower plants were key considerations when choosing the contractor for the project. “In recent years, we have constructed several of Sweden's major hydropower plants, including Kvarnforsen, outside Sveg,” says Richard Mattsson, Business Manager at NCC Construction Sweden, Norrland Region. The project, which is conditional upon a definitive decision by E.ON and water-rights approval from the Environmental Court, is scheduled to commence between September 2010 and January 2011, depending on when such a ruling is received. Accordingly, the order will be registered in the third quarter of 2010 at the earliest.
