UD Trucks to launch new trucks and medium-duty engine

The Volvo Group's Japanese subsidiary UD Trucks is launching a new version of
the Quon heavy truck, and a new medium-duty truck in the eight-ton weight-class
under the Condor series. The new and updated version of Quon will be equipped
with an 11-liter engine based on the Volvo Group's platform, while the new
Condor truck will be equiped with a newly developed GH7 medium-duty engine. The
new engines combine low consumption with low emissions and satisfy the latest
emissions standards in Japan and North America.

The new engines use SCR technology, selective catalytic reduction, which, in
addition to reducing emissions, also contributes to improved fuel economy and
driving performance. UD Trucks was early to deploy SCR, a technology for the
conversion of exhaust gases that is currently widely used at the Volvo Group.

The new Quon will be launched in Japan in April 2010 and the new Condor will be
launched in Japan in mid-2010, and in late 2010 in the US market. The Quon,
Condor and the new medium-duty engine will be produced at UD Trucks' plant in
Ageo, Japan.
