WHAT: Parents, teachers, and community organizations will gather to honor high-achieving middle-school students and three innovative teachers in the San Fernando Valley area. The honorees were recognized by the Young Achievers and Teacher Mini-Grant programs. Through the Young Achievers Program, Van Nuys Airport (VNY) recognizes and rewards exceptional area middle school students who excel in academics, athletics, the arts or community service. The Teacher Mini-Grant program provides a $500 grant, one $300 grant and one $200 grant to Los Angeles Unified School District middle school teachers (grades 6-8) who proposed to perform an educational initiative that includes aviation and community service.
