The CDMA Development Group Acquires Ten New Members During the First Quarter of 2010

Ericsson Assumes Leadership Role as an Executive Board Member

COSTA MESA, Calif., April 21, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The CDMA Development Group (CDG) today announced that it has added ten new member companies since the beginning of 2010 including Ericsson, which recently completed the purchase of Nortel Networks' CDMA business. The CDG added four operators – Alaska DigiTel, Movicel Angola, Open Mobile and Wisconsin RSA 7 – as well as machine-to-machine (M2M) service provider Kore Telematics, network equipment vendor AirHop Communications and device manufacturers SIM Technologies, Sonim Technologies and Teleepoch.

"The CDG is pleased to welcome our newest members," said Perry LaForge, executive director of the CDG. "These companies are taking leadership roles in several of our initiatives to advance and promote CDMA2000® devices, networks and services."

Ericsson, a leading global telecommunications equipment provider, will participate on the CDG's Executive Board, Advocacy Council (CAC) and Global Strategy Team (GST) to help set the CDG's strategic direction and priorities. Kore Telematics has joined the CDG's Smart Wireless Modules and Services Special Interest Group (SIG), which aims to enable its members and their customers in various vertical industries to leverage the data capabilities of CDMA2000 and its evolutionary next-generation technologies. SIM Technologies and Teleepoch are both supporting the CDG-led Open Market Handset (OMH) initiative to reduce inventory and distribution costs for a wider range of CDMA handsets, enabling more choice for consumers.

"Ericsson is proud to be a member of the CDG and its executive leadership team," said Rima Qureshi, Senior VP and Head of Business Unit CDMA Mobile Systems at Ericsson. "We serve more than 50 CDMA2000 network operators worldwide with our extensive portfolio of products and services and look forward to working with the CDG and its members to support this important industry segment."

The CDG is leading several initiatives that are focused on increasing CDMA2000's global subscriber and revenue bases worldwide. Among these are OMH, CDMA Roaming Hubs to expand global roaming, the Smart Wireless Modules and Services SIG, EV-DO and 1X Advanced network enhancements and seamless interoperability between EV-DO and LTE and Mobile WiMAX networks.

"The device initiatives that CDG is leading are opening new opportunities in emerging markets for CDMA2000," said Dr. Chuan Wang, CEO of Teleepoch Ltd. "OMH, in particular, is an area where we see tremendous growth potential, as the open market for mid-tier and high-end CDMA devices expands to multiple regions."
