Postbank announces key preliminary figures for the first quarter of 2010 

For the first quarter of 2010 the Deutsche Postbank Group (Postbank)
anticipates a profit before tax of EUR131 million. This figure is
substantially higher than the loss before tax of EUR71 million in the
comparable prior-year period and the loss of EUR269 million in the fourth
quarter of 2009.

The Bank's customer business and in particular net interest income
performed positively   in the first quarter of 2010 when compared against
both the first and fourth quarters of 2009. A substantial decline in the
allowance for losses on loans and advances compared with the fourth quarter
of 2009 as well as an easing of negative effects from the structured credit
substitution business (SCPs) contributed to this improvement.

Provided the current environment remains stable, Postbank is confident of
achieving a positive profit before tax for the entire year of 2010 - as
forecast. Given the continuing uncertainties on the international capital
and real estate markets as well as an operating performance that was very
good in the first quarter with regard to income and costs, Postbank's
current assessment is nevertheless cautious. The Bank therefore does not
expect the following quarters of the current fiscal year to yield a similar
level of results as the first quarter.

Postbank will publish details on the results for the first quarter of 2010
on May 12, 2010, as scheduled. An analyst conference call will be held at
9:00 a.m. on the same day.
