Northrop Grumman Honors Suppliers at Annual Awards Luncheon

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., April 28, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) honored 73 suppliers from the United States, Canada and Switzerland in its annual awards program. The awards banquet took place at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott ballroom, and included six Suppliers of the Year for 2009. Sixty-nine Platinum Source Preferred suppliers were also honored.

The awards recognize companies for achieving distinction in product quality, on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, and robust lean processes. The companies that are honored this year provide Northrop Grumman's Aerospace Systems sector with products ranging from aircraft parts and assemblies to sophisticated electronics for spacecraft, as well as everyday services.

Gary Ervin, corporate vice president and sector president of Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, noted that the organization has emerged as a solid innovative technology leader committed to a current culture of performance.

"With the current needs and demands of a complex market, we have taken steps to ensure our growth and business practices are in line with our customers' needs and expectations," said Ervin. "As we continue to drive a culture of performance in every aspect of our products and processes, our suppliers remain a pivotal force in reaching that success. The suppliers recognized today remain our partners and share in Northrop Grumman's worldwide commitment to their customers."

"Northrop Grumman has always been rigorous in its selection of suppliers, so your recognition here today is testimony to your hard work, know-how and your dedication to being a valued part of the Northrop Grumman product team." said Lisa Kohl, vice president of Global Supply Chain for Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems.

During the ceremony, Kohl said, "It is my pleasure to celebrate with all of you today in saluting our Platinum Preferred and Supplier of the Year honorees. We recognize the critical part that you play in helping us to achieve our vision, to be the leader in preserving freedom and advancing discovery by providing our customers with innovative and affordable integrated air, space and ground solutions."

This year, Northrop Grumman presented awards in two categories, Platinum Source Preferred and Supplier of the Year, with 28 of the awards going to small businesses, including three service-disabled veteran-owned businesses recognized as such by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The Supplier of the Year program recognizes suppliers in six categories: Special Recognition, Research & Development, Non-Production, Small Business, Procurement and Subcontracts. To be considered for a Supplier of the Year award, a company must demonstrate consistently superior performance and quality in delivering products and/or services.

Northrop Grumman Corporation is a leading global security company whose 120,000 employees provide innovative systems, products, and solutions in aerospace, electronics, information systems, shipbuilding and technical services to government and commercial customers worldwide.
