Finnair has received an award from Brussels Airport for being the most punctual airline operating from Brussels in European internal traffic in 2009. All airlines operating at Brussels Airport participated in the Brussels Airport Aviation Awards competition. Brussels Airport measures the punctuality of each airline. The top five airlines operating in European internal traffic were selected, based on results achieved during last year. Finnair overcame the other candidates in the Punctuality Award Short Haul Airline category, namely Aeroflot, Austrian Airlines, SAS and TAP. This was the third year that the punctuality award competition had been held. "Brussels is a very challenging airport due to its capacity and size. The challenge is made all the greater by the fact that operations are controlled from Helsinki. Achieving a result like this requires long-term cooperation with both external and internal stakeholders. The award is a significant indication of the quality and skill of Finnair's different departments in harmonising this work into an effective operational entity," explains Finnair's Ground Handling Deputy Area Director Ossi Karuvaara.
