Informatica First to Accelerate ACORD Framework Adoption

Ensures Mappings to ACORD Information Model by Insurance Customers

LAS VEGAS, May 25, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Informatica Corporation (Nasdaq:INFA), the world's number one independent provider of enterprise data integration software, today announced it is collaborating with ACORD in a proof-of-concept to validate the deployment of the ACORD Information Model semantic mappings. The ACORD Framework has emerged as the foundation for next-generation, insurance industry information architectures. Informatica also announced specialized product capabilities that enable data analysts in ACORD member insurance companies to create, test and document ACORD Information Model data mappings.

"Informatica has been working very closely on key initiatives around the ACORD Framework this past year," said Frank Neugebauer, Chief Technology Officer, ACORD. "Working with ACORD and now OMG they continue to show their desire to innovate by being a part of the leadership group making rapid implementation of the ACORD mappings a reality."

A core component of the ACORD framework, the Information Model defines insurance concepts and their relationships. The advantages of the ACORD Framework include easier development of insurance industry systems and applications, and greater flexibility in accommodating business change.

"Data integration has always been a challenge for insurers. However, the urgent demand by consumers and distributors for an improved insurance experience has rapidly escalated excellence in execution to an imperative," said Karen Pauli, Research Director, TowerGroup. "Carriers will be able to reduce expenses while rising to meet market challenges if they adopt a standards-based information model enabled by a single engine and business friendly integration tools."

Informatica B2B Data Transformation Accelerator option can be used by insurance organizations looking to leverage the ACORD Framework. The offering documents proprietary-to-ACORD Information Model mappings and enables business analysts to directly specify, validate and document mappings for faster time-to-market.

"Insurance companies face an explosion of data transformation rules and point-to-point interfaces between systems," said Girish Pancha, executive vice president, Data Integration, Informatica. "Informatica uniquely delivers a single integration engine and business analyst tools to make it easier for customers to take advantage of the ACORD Information Model."
