YIT CORPORATION PRESS RELEASE JUNE 1, 2010 AT 9:30 YIT TO HIRE 700 SUMMER TRAINEES IN FINLAND YIT will hire approximately 700 summer trainees in its Finnish operations for the summer 2010. Construction Services will hire around 500 summer trainees and Building Systems and Industrial Services will each take on about 100 trainees. Summer trainees work in a variety of production-related and administrative tasks at YIT. The majority will take up employment at building sites and projects. Positions are available to trainees of all ages and with different educational backgrounds - varying from elementary school students to university-level students at all stages of their studies. MOST DESIRABLE EMPLOYER IN CONSTRUCTION BUSINESS YIT aims to be a desired employer among present and future employees alike. The Universum Finnish Student Survey 2010 published in spring shows that YIT is the most popular employer in construction business among engineering / natural sciences students from Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences. - It is important that the summer trainees enjoy their work and that we can offer them an opportunity to learn and develop their professional skills under the guidance of an experienced professional. We actively collect feedback on how summer trainees feel about us. Most positive comments have been given on how they have been acquainted with their work and the ways of working in the site, as well as the way they have been taken as part of the working community, says Antero Saarilahti, Senior Vice President, Human Resources. CLEARLY MORE SUMMER TRAINEES THAN IN PREVIOUS YEAR - For us, summer trainees are an extremely important way of finding future professionals for YIT. In the future, we will need thousands of new professionals to enable YIT Group to grow as planned. By offering summer trainee positions we take part in the development of our business field as well, says Saarilahti. - At the most, we have had more than 1,000 summer trainees across Finland. We have continued our outlays on summer trainees also in the softer economic situation, and we had more than 400 summer trainees last summer as well.
