STUART, Fla., June 1, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ecosphere Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:ESPH), a diversified water engineering and environmental services company, is pleased to announce that world renowned environmentalist and ocean explorer Jean-Michel Cousteau has endorsed the Company's patented Ecosphere Ozonix technology to assist in the clean up of the Gulf oil spill. The Ozonix process is a non-chemical system specifically built for removing oil and chemicals from water.

Jean-Michel Cousteau, President of Ocean Futures Society stated, "In the Gulf of Mexico today we are faced with a disaster of unprecedented magnitude to our precious seas, shoreline, and marine environment. My heart goes out to all the people who are suffering in these coastal communities. We must move forward with a sense of urgency to clean up this disaster without adding chemicals that may have long-term effects we cannot yet measure. We must embrace non-chemical solutions like the Ecosphere Ozonix technology to clean up the damage as soon as possible. I will summon my entire environmental network and capabilities to help this effort and work tirelessly with Ecosphere until the job is completed."

Dennis McGuire, CEO of Ecosphere Technologies (ETI) said, "We are honored that Jean-Michel Cousteau has endorsed our revolutionary, non-chemical technology to help clean up the Gulf spill. Jean-Michel Cousteau has always been an inspiration to me and our Ecosphere team. Jean-Michel served on our Board of Directors and Board of Advisors for many years. Jean Michel's dedication to protecting the seas has inspired our efforts over the years to create technology to help the environment through eco friendly and sustainable solutions to environmental and humanitarian problems. Our Ozonix Systems have been used to eliminate the use of biocides when fracturing new natural gas wells in shale plays throughout the U.S. We now look forward to using the Ecosphere Ozonix process in the Gulf region to help mitigate the damage created by the oil spill."

Charles Vinick, Chairman of Ecosphere Technologies said, "Jean-Michel Cousteau has dedicated his life to protecting the oceans and thereby to protecting our quality of life. He has seen Ecosphere's technology as a specific tool to help accomplish this greater goal and his endorsement means a great deal to our Company and to me personally."
