Third generation of Opcon Powerbox to Australia Opcon, the energy and environmental technology Group, has received an order from Enerji (ERJ:ASX) in Australia to replace an existing Opcon Powerbox. The order is for the third generation of Opcon Powerbox and, like five other units ordered by Enerji, it will be built from scratch in accordance with Australian standards. Delivery will start in the final quarter of 2010. The order is for a unit to replace the first generation of Opcon Powerbox that Enerji ordered and Opcon delivered in accordance with European norms. The decision is based on the benefits of having only 3rd generation Opcon Powerboxes and the cost of fully adapting the 1st generation to Australian standards. This original unit will be taken over by Opcon and be used elsewhere. The new order is worth around SEK 5 million after deductions concerning the unit that Opcon is taking back. The third generation of Opcon Powerbox is the result of major efforts in the past year focused on the industrialization of the product that has resulted in significant improvements. “This industrialization activity has been extensive, and the focus has been on the product itself and on improving the conditions for manufacturing in series. Together with the right production structure that we are establishing with Partnertech we will continue deliveries and gradually increase orders. In the first few months of the year alone we have already signed five agreements for delivery of Opcon Powerbox,” says Rolf Hasselström, President and CEO of Opcon AB. “We are also very pleased to see the increased focus on core business from Enerji's new board of directors. To help them focus fully on the commercial use of the plants they buy from us, Opcon has offered Enerji the opportunity to come to Sweden to see reference plants in operation instead of them having to have their own reference plants in Australia,” says Rolf Hasselström, President and CEO of Opcon AB. A part of Opcon's focus on Waste to Value, Opcon Powerbox is Opcon's proprietary product for production of new carbon-free electricity primarily from waste and surplus heat at temperatures as low as 55° C. Among other applications, Opcon Powerbox can be installed in large process plants, power stations, large diesel engines or after adjustments on large vessels and can produce up to 6,000 MWh per year.
