The Hoffman Company Announces Real Estate Industry Veteran Frederick W. Farr Will Join Its Brokerage Team

Highly Respected Acquisition Specialist Brings Nearly Three Decades of Industry Knowledge and Contacts to the Company

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - June 23, 2010) -  The Hoffman Company, a leading land brokerage firm in Southern California, is proud to announce that Frederick W. Farr has joined its team.

As a former executive with John Laing Homes and president of the Baldy View Chapter of the Building Industry Association of Southern California, Farr has earned the respect of his peers and is regarded as a highly valuable asset for Hoffman.

"Fred has great contacts in the industry and he understands the development side as well as acquisition side of the business," said Tom Dallape, co-principal of The Hoffman Company along with Norm Scheel. "That just adds extra layers of expertise to our aggressive team, so that we can provide stronger services to our clients as the market continues to improve."

Farr will focus on land sales on the 210, 10 and 60 freeway corridors in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, as well as client-specific projects in other markets. He plans to leverage his development background and experience by building and enhancing relationships within the industry.

Prior to being hired, Farr was working as a land acquisition consultant for D.R. Horton, identifying new land opportunities, preparing financial analyses and performing due diligence reviews. After deciding he was ready for a change, he found a commonality of style with The Hoffman Company. Described as a "people person" who likes developing and maintaining relationships, Farr is looking forward to spending as much time as possible in the field.

"The Hoffman Company is a good fit for my personality," Farr said. "Tom and Norm are straight shooters and very successful. I've done several deals with them over the years, enjoyed working with them and have a lot of respect for them. I really didn't talk to anyone else. I didn't see a need to."

Before becoming a consultant, Farr spent nearly a decade with John Laing Homes, where he most recently served as Vice President of Land Acquisition and Forward Planning. Over the course of his time with the company he specialized in land acquisitions and sales in the Inland Empire.

Farr's other industry experience included five years at Premier Group, Inc. in Corona, Calif., where as a Vice President he managed the acquisition and forward planning/entitlement activities for projects. Prior to that, he worked for INCO Homes Corporation in Corona as Land Development Manager, Southern California Division.

He has held several prestigious volunteer positions in the industry, including president of the Baldy View Chapter of the Building Industry Association of Southern California in 1999 and 2000, and president of Home Aid Inland Empire Chapter in 2005 and 2006, where he continues to serve on the Board of Directors.

A resident of Chino Hills, Farr lives with his wife Sherry and has three children and two grandchildren. Farr received a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California, Los Angeles. His interests include golfing, boating, water skiing and snow skiing.
