  • Solution to Steer the Core Business of the IT Services Company

DETROIT, July 7, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq:CPWR) today announced that Steria, one of Europe's leading IT service companies, has chosen Compuware Changepoint to provide a core management system for Steria's project and service portfolios worldwide. When the ongoing rollout has been completed, 12,000 users (Steria teams, partners and clients) in 16 countries will use the solution to manage programs and identify and anticipate risks through proactive management of schedules, resources and change management. Steria has chosen Compuware for the maturity of its Changepoint solution and for the expert assistance provided by Compuware consultants throughout the rollout.

"Compuware Changepoint will enable us to take full advantage of the expertise we have in each country and to harmonize it for the benefit of our clients," said Serge Ferre, Group Programme Management Director at Steria. "Our clients will have access to shared information, giving them a better view of the progress and risk management of their projects, which, in turn, will underpin the profitability of the group. We chose Compuware because both companies place the same importance on providing a flexible customized response to meet our clients' needs. The fact that a software solutions company such as Compuware shares in the responsibility of implementing the solution is an important predictor of performance and maturity."

Significant Growth

Steria has been in business for more than 40 years, experiencing significant growth. Today the company employs 18,300 people in 16 countries in Europe, India and Asia. Following the three strategic acquisitions that Steria has made since 2001 (Integris, Mummert Consulting and Xansa), Steria has a broad range of project, program and service management skills and approaches. These companies have brought considerable added value to Steria through know-how, methods and various project management tools. In order to optimize its management of large-scale programs, Steria has decided to harmonize its project and service management as well as its reporting methods worldwide.

Harmonization Without Large-scale Disruption

The Compuware solution will bring together various project management methodologies, while also taking local knowledge and expertise into account. Changepoint was chosen for its ability to provide a unified reference system containing project management information that can be updated in real-time while also adapting workflows to the specific aspects of each country.

Changepoint will enable the 12,000 users to share planning, project risk processing, resource allocation and project documentation data in real-time. Key decision makers will have access to a unified set of performance indicators and customized reports so they can track the progress of each project, program or service and ensure that it complies with Steria's risk management policy.

Managing Change Effectively

To help manage exceptions, Changepoint will help operational decision-makers focus on projects that need their input arising from an issue or a particular need. The solution's role is to improve risk management for programs that have an impact on the profitability of the group, therefore becoming an essential tool for managing Steria's business.

The experience and expertise of Compuware consultants in implementing Changepoint within large organizations was also a deciding factor for Steria. The consultants, who were involved in all the stages of customization and rollout, helped Steria experts to ensure that Changepoint was adopted as smoothly as possible. After a pilot phase to assess the performance of Changepoint and its suitability for current practice in each country, the solution will be rolled out worldwide.

"Technology companies such as Steria are playing an instrumental role in the economic recovery, allowing business to fully leverage information technology to operate more efficiently and profitably," said Lori Ellsworth, Compuware Vice President, Changepoint. "In turn, Changepoint becomes a key enabler to Steria's growth and success, providing a critical backbone for product and services delivery, and a means for ensuring consistent adoption of methodologies and best practices across the enterprise."
