US Ambassador to Greece, Daniel Speckhard, Presents Top Travel Expert Radio Show Host Stephanie Abrams With Goddess Artemis Award in Athens

BOSTON, July 22, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Zappeion Megaron hosted the first Olympic Games in Athens, Greece in 1896, the signing of Greece's EU treaty, and the Euro American Women's Council's 14th Annual Goddess Artemis Awards on July 7th where Daniel Speckhard, US Ambassador to Greece, presented the award to top-rated travel expert radio show broadcaster, Stephanie Abrams, rated one of the 100 Most Powerful Women in Travel by Travel Agent Magazine. Abrams was honored for her support of Greece, her significant contribution to the development of travel to Greece and her philanthropic Travel Fairy Godmother mission, sending children and adults to places they long to visit.

Abrams received the EAWC's Goddess Artemis Award from US Ambassador Speckhard, noting, "It was a moving experience that bridged the US-Greece connection in a journey filled with spine-tingling moments including receiving an award from the office of Nikitas Kaklamanis, Mayor of Athens. Visiting Greece is like reading a mystery-thriller where you walk through the pages and each new page reveals the joys of modern Greece with a backdrop of Greek antiquity."

This EAWC journey, spearheaded by its founder and CEO, Loula Loi Alafoyiannis, included visits to  Olympia's museum and ancient ruins;  the trendy  seaside town of Nafpaktos where boutique shops and great restaurants are nestled between the port's historic fort, Venetian hilltop castle and the Holy Monastery of Metamorfosi whose spectacular panoramic views of mountains and seascapes and their museum's treasures  testifying to the monastery's history create a compelling reason to visit Nafpaktos. "You know you are entering a storybook experience as you cross the architecturally dramatic Rio Anterio Bridge. This is a Must Visit region," Abrams notes.

The EAWC's Goddess Artemis journey continued to Mykonos. "Every Goddess needs to   relax at the 5-star Royal Myconian Resort & Spa and have dinner with Mykonos' Mayor Athanasios Kousathanas before being inducted into the Euro American Women's Hall of Fame on the island of Delos, birthplace of the Goddess Artemis and the Sun God, Apollo. Meandering through shopping streets in Mykonos' is the perfect culmination to this experience in Wonderland!" Abrams notes. "Greece has it all: natural beauty, fantastic architecture, rich history, great food, and an infectious zest for living where hospitality abounds. Visiting Greece uplifts that spirit!" Abrams concludes.
