Public Service Company of Oklahoma Selects Comverge for Demand Response Programs

Comprehensive Residential & C+I Pilot Program Follows Regulatory Approval of $80 Million Energy Efficiency and Demand Response Plan

NORCROSS, Ga., July 29, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Comverge, Inc. (Nasdaq:COMV), a leading provider of Intelligent Energy Management (IEM) solutions for Residential and Commercial + Industrial customers, today announced that it has been selected by Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO), to deliver a comprehensive energy management pilot program to eligible residential and commercial customers.
PSO's demand response program will be built on Comverge's Apollo Demand Response Management System (DRMS) software, the industry's leading energy management software platform.

PSO serves approximately 530,000 customers in eastern and southwestern Oklahoma.  To help its customers save more than $100 million, PSO has received regulatory approval to invest $80 million in new and improved intelligent energy management programs.  Under a three-year agreement, Comverge will provide full turnkey services including hardware, enrollment, installation and call center services to PSO's residential and commercial and industrial customers.  The outcome of the pilot program will aid PSO in its long-term planning.

"Innovative programs like this enable us to help improve the energy efficiency and comfort of our customers' homes and businesses, while also saving them money," said Kathy Champion, Manager of Consumer Programs, PSO.  "To meet these goals, we needed a partner that could deliver a comprehensive platform that spans across all customer classes.  This program will support the current and future energy management initiatives for PSO's residential and commercial and industrial customers.  Comverge's experience will help us and our customers build a cost-effective program for managing demand and reducing energy consumption."

PSO's energy efficiency and demand response plan was approved by The Oklahoma Corporation Commission in January 2010.  Since then, existing programs in Oklahoma have already saved customers more than $2.5 million and have reduced energy consumption by more than 6.3 million kilowatt-hours (kWh).  Building on this success, PSO estimates that new programs like the Comverge managed demand response program will enable it to save an additional 170 million kWh over the next three years.

"PSO is one of the most forward-thinking utilities in the country and its efforts in delivering cost-effective programs that significantly reduce energy consumption reflects a commitment to developing and deploying innovative consumer-oriented energy management programs," said Comverge President and CEO, R. Blake Young.  "This program is an excellent example of how our utility customers' are expanding their offerings and solutions as they move to manage demand in the most cost-effective and customer-centric way.  This pilot will show the significant benefits of the Comverge Intelligent Energy Management product suite and give PSO the insight it needs to meet its changing needs as the smart grid continues to mature."
