Myth-Busting New Book Proves Existence of God Using Modern Science and Logic

IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 3, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Robert J. Spitzer, S.J., Ph.D., former president of Gonzaga University, today announced the release of his newest book, New Proofs for the Existence of God: Contributions of Contemporary Physics and Philosophy.  From universal space-time asymmetry to cosmic coincidences, Spitzer's 320-page book, published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company, unveils a compelling abundance of scientific evidence for the existence of God; soundly addressing and negating the claims of atheism.  The author culls from discoveries of physics and philosophy over the last 40 years.

"Fr. Robert Spitzer doesn't just put a telescope or a microscope to his peepers as he scans the cosmos for design and declares that God exists," writes Amazon reviewer Mike Robinson.  "He includes proofs that are built upon concepts such as…string theory, quantum cosmology and mathematical thoughts on infinity, to name a few.… This intriguing and dazzling assortment of evidence furnishes the reader with powerful reasons to know that God is the transcendent source for the cosmos and mankind."

The book in particular has personal significance for its prolific author, who has published more than five books to date and countless articles.

"This book, perhaps more than any other I've written, is near to my heart," explains author Robert Spitzer, S.J., Ph.D., alluding to a life-changing experience in his early college days.  "I still vividly remember a college professor stopping his lesson plan for the day to answer my virulent objections against any proof for God.  This professor challenged me right back!  He picked up a piece of chalk and devoted an entire class to proving the existence of God.  That experience utterly changed my thinking and my life, impacting what I chose to do in the future.

"Years later, as a professor of philosophy of science my students clamored for a book that they could use to study the matter further.  I didn't have one.  Now I do,"  Fr. Spitzer added.  "In a world increasingly filled with pop-culture atheism, my hope is that this book will open eyes and thinking to the level of the great scientific geniuses like Einstein, Eddington, and other great physicists who had a profound belief in the existence of God."
