ParkerVision, ITT Deliver Low-Power Consumption Transmit Solution to US Army

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Aug. 5, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ParkerVision, Inc. (Nasdaq:PRKR), a developer and marketer of semiconductor technology solutions for wireless applications, announced today that it has successfully delivered a working implementation of its d2p™ or Direct-to-Power™ transmit technology to the US Army through a joint contract with ITT Corp (NYSE:ITT). The solution utilized existing d2p Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits (RFICs), along with synthesizer technology provided by ITT to showcase the d2p performance, inherent multi-mode capability, and low power consumption.

"As the Army moves towards more complex waveforms, we are searching to find technologies that allow us to reduce battery size for our war fighters in the field, while not reducing talk-time," said Chris Nelson, Branch Chief of the US Army Communications-Electronics Research, Development, and Engineering Center (CERDEC).

ParkerVision's solution demonstrated commercial and military waveforms through a single transmit chain with compliant performance using its RFICs. "ParkerVision's innovative architecture allows multiple waveforms to be supported through a single chain. This program demonstrated how our team used IC's designed for the commercial handset market to demonstrate the technology's viability for certain high-profile military applications, while maintaining high performance and industry-best power consumption," said Jeffrey Parker, CEO of ParkerVision.
