NEWPORT NEWS, Va., Aug. 19, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been awarded a $42.4 million cost plus fixed fee contract from the U.S. Navy for support services on new and commissioned submarines and surface ships of the U.S. Navy and other foreign navies. The company's Shipbuilding sector is the prime contractor.
The company will provide engineering; technical analyses; mechanical and electrical design; manufacturing; installation; test and evaluation; and emergent field repair services at naval shipyards, fleet homeports and around the world, as required.

Northrop Grumman's Newport News facility is one of only two U.S. shipyards capable of building nuclear-powered submarines and since the early 1990s, has completed over 200 ship repair projects for the U.S. government, U.S.-flag commercial and foreign-flag commercial ships, ranging from paint repair to complete hull and machinery renovation.
