City National Bank Appoints Mariana Johnson as Senior Vice President and Bart Roberts as Vice President and Both as Branch Relationship Managers


LAS VEGAS, Aug. 19, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- City National Bank, Nevada's Premier Private and Business Bank®, today announced that Mariana Johnson has been appointed as senior vice president and branch relationship manager of its Twain branch. The bank also announced that Bart Roberts has been appointed vice president and branch relationship manager of the bank's Hughes Center branch. Johnson and Roberts joined City National through its acquisition of Sun West Bank in May of this year.

Johnson and Roberts are both longtime and very well-known banking professionals who have worked in the financial services industry in southern Nevada for more than a combined 55 years. In their new capacities, Johnson and Roberts will focus on developing new business for the bank, along with client retention and growing the existing client base at their respective branches.

Johnson and Roberts will both report to John Wilcox, senior vice president and Nevada regional banking manager. Johnson will be located at 6085 W. Twain Avenue and the corner of Jones Blvd., while Roberts will be located at 3883 Howard Hughes Parkway near Flamingo Road.

Prior to joining City National, Johnson served as executive vice president and chief administration officer for Sun West Bank. During her 30 years in banking, Johnson has worked for and served in a variety of positions for Wells Fargo Bank and its predecessors First Security Bank and Continental Bank. She began her banking career with Nevada State Bank as an operations secretary and part-time teller in 1980.

Johnson is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. She also earned a number of banking degrees from various universities around the country, including the University of San Diego, Colorado, Oklahoma and Vanderbilt.

Johnson is a current member of the executive board for Helping Hands of Vegas Valley, and member of the Latin Chamber of Commerce. She also served as chairperson of SWB's In-house Volunteer Program. As a Bank of Promise, Sun West Bank's program provided volunteer and charitable activities throughout the year with a strong focus on educational and literacy outreach programs for children.  Johnson has also served as a former board member of the Economic Opportunity Board and the Community Development Advisory Committee for Clark County.

Prior to Roberts joining City National Bank, he served as senior vice president and senior sales manager for Sun West Bank. Over the past 29 years, Roberts has worked for several banks in southern Nevada, including Nevada Commerce Bank, First Security Bank of Nevada, which was acquired by Wells Fargo Bank, Valley Bank of Nevada, which was acquired by Bank of America, and First Interstate Bank, where he started his banking career in 1981. During his tenure in banking, Roberts has held a variety of positions such as business development banking manager, business banking manager, corporate business development and branch operations manager.

Roberts is a graduate of Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He also earned an Associates degree in Marketing, Economics and German. Roberts is very active in the community serving as a member of a number of trade associations and nonprofit boards, which include the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, Safe Nest, Business Forums International Las Vegas Chapter and more.
