New Bible Study Launches Christian Revival

The Lazarus Movement Urges Christians to Go Back to the Basics

CLEARWATER, Fla., Aug. 31, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Devil's Advocate may seem like an odd choice to narrate a bible study, but The Lazarus Movement proves otherwise. In this case he serves as the ultimate skeptic, asking Christians to talk about subjects most churches shy away from. By asking tough questions about faith, money and acceptance, author Barry Freeman wants Christians to go beyond talking the talk and start walking the walk. Freeman urges Christians to answer the call and join the movement.

"Christianity has become stale," Freeman explains. "It doesn't challenge us anymore. We may go to church, we may believe and say all the right things, but that doesn't make us Christians. Christianity is about community amongst believers and that aspect of the church is dying."

With hoards of Christians leaving the church every year, churches are trying new tactics to pursue members. From splitting with denominations, renaming churches and investing thousands of dollars into a new facility or sound and lighting equipment, it seems that churches are willing to try anything, but it's not working.

"We have all the flash that the earlier followers didn't have, but none of the authenticity," continues Freeman. "A great sound system may supplement a worship service but it will never replace genuine community. I wrote The Lazarus Movement to unify Christians by addressing our challenges. We all search for a genuine experience and when Christians don't find that in a church, they move on or leave altogether."

The Lazarus Movement launched in July and is available for immediate download at TheLazarusMovement.com. Resources to help you form a successful small group in your community are also available. An online forum for discussion and a small group locator will be launched later this year.
