EVA foils are used to laminate solar cells when assembling solar modules so as to protect the cells from environmental influences. The new production plant is one of the most modern across the whole of Europe and has an annual production capacity of 5 million square metres. The plant is to be operated in three shifts from October 2010 already. Roth & Rau is thus expanding its market position in Italy. Roth & Rau Italy already has a very high share of EVA foil sales in the Italian PV market. By developing its own production facilities, Roth & Rau Italy will be able to react faster to its customers' needs. Furthermore, the company is planning to expand its sales activities, especially in Southern Europe. 'We have invested around Euro 2.5 million in the new EVA production facility in Italy', commented Dr. Dietmar Roth, CEO of Roth & Rau AG.
