Wall Street Journal to Interview Chevron CEO Watson for Its Inaugural "Viewpoints West" Series

Journal's Viewpoints Series Expands to Silicon Valley

NEW YORK, Sept. 28, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Wall Street Journal today announced the expansion of its Viewpoints interview series with the launch of Viewpoints West, an invitation-only interview series that will bring together 150 of the most influential technology executives, venture capitalists, chief executives, bankers and influencers from San Francisco and Silicon Valley.

For the inaugural installment of Viewpoints West, John S. Watson, chairman and chief executive officer of Chevron Corporation, will be interviewed by Wall Street Journal deputy managing editor Alan Murray during a live, unscripted session on October 6 at the Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club in Menlo Park, Calif.  The discussion will focus on pressing issues facing the global economy, the energy industry and executive leadership.

Based on the success of the original Viewpoints series in New York City, which debuted in 2008, The Wall Street Journal is expanding the quarterly series to Silicon Valley. The West Coast series will feature industry luminaries on par with the participants in the New York series, which has included CEOs such as General Electric's Jeff Immelt and IBM's Sam Palmisano and financiers such as George Soros and David Rubenstein.

Viewpoints West is sponsored by The Boston Consulting Group, which is also a sponsor of the original Viewpoints series.

Video excerpts from Viewpoints West will be featured on WSJ.com and on the Viewpoints West web site following each event. Previous interviews from the Viewpoints series in New York are currently available via http://wsj.com/viewpoints.
