Ruukki secures over EUR 10 million bridge contract in Sweden

Rautaruukki Corporation Stock exchange release 29 September 2010 at 9.00

Ruukki and NCC Construction Sverige have agreed the delivery and installation of
steel structures for a bridge to be built at Motala in Sweden. The contract is
worth over EUR 10 million. In addition to delivering the structures, Ruukki will
have a strong role in design solutions for the 620-metre-long bridge in
cooperation with the main contractor and the designer to ensure competitive
structural solutions and lasting durability.

Motala bridge will be one of the most demanding bridge projects in Sweden and
thus design, fabrication and installation require sound expertise. "Ruukki is a
reliable partner in demanding projects. Such a partner benefits us, especially
in this type of contract where, as the contractor, we have responsibility for
maintenance of the bridge for the next 20 years," says Per Höglund, Business
unit Manager, from NCC Construction.

Ruukki's deliveries are scheduled for 2011 and 2012 and the new Motala bridge
will open for traffic in 2013. The bridge is part of the new Highway 50 project
and will span lake Vättern at Motala bay. The new bridge will have V-supports
and the longest span will be almost 160 metres.

"We have experience of a number of similar demanding bridge projects in the
Nordic countries. In just under a year, we have agreed deliveries for some
twenty bridges in different countries and strengthened our position as the
leading steel contractor in the Nordic countries," says Sami Eronen SVP,
Infrastructure and Northern Europe, Ruukki Construction.

Ruukki's customers benefit from reliability and cost competitiveness in
demanding bridge projects since one company is responsible for the entire
manufacturing process, from raw material and fabrication to installation.

Ruukki has a strong presence in infrastructure construction in the Nordic
countries. Among other things, the company has earlier delivered steel
structures for a number of road bridges and a railway bridge for the E6 road
project in Sweden. Likewise in Sweden, installation work has been completed on a
600-metre road bridge spanning the Hudälven river and on the
Partihallsförbindelsen link bridge in Gothenburg to interconnect the E45
motorway and E20 road. The bridge over the Hudälven river is scheduled for
completion this year and the link bridge for 2011.
