SAN DIEGO, Oct. 6, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- It's moving month for health and wellness company American Specialty Health Incorporated (ASH) and its subsidiaries, including wellness company Healthyroads. ASH will be vacating its 156,000 square feet of existing office space in downtown San Diego and transitioning to a 20 percent larger campus environment, comprised of an 81,000 square-foot building to house Healthyroads and a 107,000 square foot building for ASH's other programs. The new buildings, which ASH will occupy for the next 10 years, are located in San Diego's Sorrento Mesa business district.
"We've absolutely loved our location in downtown San Diego over the past 10 years, and it's been the perfect setting for us to cultivate our cutting-edge programs," said ASH CEO and chairman George DeVries. "But as we add more and more clients, it is necessary for us to occupy a larger space that will better help us to support them and fulfill our mission to 'empower individuals to live healthier and longer.'"
The new campus features an in-house, fully stocked fitness center with brand new equipment, an exercise room featuring spin bikes and fitness videos, and a Wii Fit which employees can use to exercise and de-stress. Other stress-busting building features include multiple balconies with tables and umbrellas for outdoor meetings and breaks, hiking trails nearby in underdeveloped areas, and access to outdoor tennis and sand volleyball courts.
As part of ASH's "go green" efforts, the new buildings will be registered with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) with a goal of maximizing operational efficiency while minimizing environmental impact.
Since ASH was founded in 1987, it has grown the membership covered under its various programs every year for 23 straight years. And 100 percent of its membership and clients have been developed organically. Currently, the company employs more than 700 employees and achieved revenues of more than $147 million in 2009.
