BOCA RATON, FL--(Marketwire - October 21, 2010) - Airspan Networks Inc., a leading provider of broadband wireless access networks, announced today that the company, through partner Pinnacle Wireless, has been selected by the New Jersey Transit Authority (NJTA) for a statewide deployment to enable monitoring, control and communications along the two main New Jersey highways.
The project consists of over 100 WiMAX sectors operating in the 4.9 GHz band to be deployed along 360 miles of the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway. Both highways support a combined 600 million drivers each year and comprise one of the busiest segments of I-95. Implementing Airspan's advanced technology HiperMAX base stations, the NJTA will use the network for a variety of applications such as variable message signs, traffic monitoring, CCTV cameras and roadway weather information systems.
