Los Angeles International Airport Marks 10th Anniversary of Gateway LAX Enhancement Project

WHAT: Los Angeles City Councilmember Tom LaBonge and Bill Rosendahl will be joined by 
  airport officials and community representatives at a plaque unveiling to commemorate 
  the 10th anniversary of the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Gateway 
  Enhancement Project. The project was inaugurated August 8, 2000, and has since 
  become a modern icon of the City of Los Angeles, welcoming millions of visitors annually 
  to Los Angeles. 
   
  The $112-million project encompassed palm trees lining Century Blvd. from Aviation 
  Blvd.; landscaping throughout the passenger terminal area; large steel overhead 
  signage and lighting along Century Blvd. into the terminal area; new public address 
  system; and the iconic 32-foot-high letters spelling out "LAX" with glass pylons ranging 
  from 26 feet tall to over 100 feet tall encompassing a public art lighting program.
