WSJ.com to Provide Complete, Live Coverage of Midterm Elections

Minute-by-Minute Coverage and Analysis From Around the Country


NEW YORK, Oct. 28, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Wall Street Journal Online (WSJ.com) announced today plans to provide comprehensive, live coverage of the midterm elections on Tuesday, Nov. 2, including six hours of live video coverage, real-time news and analysis, contributions from reporters and editors in key race locations, and interactive maps and features.

Beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, WSJ.com will carry six hours of live video coverage with Campaign Journal, hosted from Journal headquarters in New York by the Journal's Gerald F. Seib, assistant managing editor and executive Washington editor; and Alan Murray, deputy managing editor and executive editor, online, and Gerard Baker, deputy editor in chief. They will break down the events of the day and evening and will bring in contributions from Journal reporters and editors stationed around the country, reporting live via iPhone video, Skype and LiveU.

In addition, James Freeman, assistant editor of the Journal's editorial page, and Jason L. Riley of the editorial board will provide video updates in the last 10 minutes of every hour, beginning with the 8 p.m. ET hour, featuring commentary from editorial page editor Paul Gigot, Potomac Watch columnist Kimberley A. Strassel and WSJ.com columnist John Fund. 

Throughout the evening, WSJ.com will feature a home page section that brings together:

  • Real-time, breaking news updates, analysis and observations with contributions from Journal reporters and editors;
  • An interactive map keeping track of key races, overall election results and any change of control developments;
  • Regular updates and analysis from Opinion Journal and the editorial page; 
  • The WSJ for iPad app will also integrate WSJ.com's election coverage, including updated news and analysis and an interactive, touch-controlled map.
