IdentityMine, Microsoft and Twitter Collaborate to Create Official Twitter Application for the Windows Phone 7 Platform

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - October 29, 2010) -  IdentityMine, Inc.™, an established leader in application and user interface development for rich digital interactive user experiences, announced today that it had collaborated with Microsoft and Twitter to create a full Twitter experience, custom-designed for the Windows® Phone 7 (WP7) platform. Twitter for WP7 is a fully functional, purpose-built application giving consumers the ability to use their Twitter accounts on WP7 devices as easily as they would online.

Twitter is one of the fastest-growing applications on mobile devices, with hundreds of millions of users and approximately 300,000 new sign-ups each day. The new WP7 application gives users a high quality, complete Twitter experience, taking advantage of key WP7 capabilities in several unique ways. These include the ability to search and browse the Twitterverse without logging in or creating an account -- a benefit for the many users who merely want to look without actually tweeting; the ability to flip between views and separate content using the phone's Pivot and Panorama controls; and the option to select between different visual design themes.

"It was critical for us to make the full Twitter experience available on WP7," said Chad Brown, SVP of sales and marketing, IdentityMine. "Of Twitter's active users, more than 37 percent use their phone to tweet, making it important to take complete advantage of Microsoft's new mobile platform. Our goal in working with Microsoft and Twitter was to deliver a consumer experience that is both familiar, yet unique for this medium."

"This was a three-way partnership with Microsoft, Twitter and IdentityMine," said John Zolezzi, senior user experience developer, IdentityMine. "Using Silverlight, we were able to take advantage of all the functionality that Windows Phone 7 has to offer including the use of Pivot and Panorama controls and the Metro style. The result is an authentic extension of the Twitter online experience."

In creating the application, Microsoft created the User Interface while IdentityMine undertook the integration, development, programming and designing, testing, and managing the design iteration on a new and changing platform. IdentityMine's team of UX experts worked with Silverlight and Microsoft web services to create a working proof of concept before transitioning into a fully-fledged application. The team was agile in developing from the ground up on a new platform, working with new devices, and with new user interface metaphors. Twitter for WP7 is one of six applications IdentityMine created for Windows Phone 7.
