Sears Selects EnerNOC's EfficiencySMART Commissioning to Capture Energy Savings

Major Retailer to Employ Data-Driven Energy Efficiency Measures in 2.4M Square Foot Headquarters

BOSTON, Nov. 22, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- EnerNOC, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENOC), a leading provider of data-driven energy efficiency applications, today announced that Sears Holdings has selected EnerNOC's EfficiencySMART Commissioning, which blends traditional commissioning services with real-time, persistent commissioning technology, to drive energy savings at its corporate headquarters, a 2010 Energy Star rated facility. Sears is the latest Fortune 500 company to deploy EnerNOC's EfficiencySMART to help meet aggressive financial and sustainability goals.

At 2.4 million square feet, Sears's Hoffman Estates, IL headquarters offers nearly the total floor area of the Empire State Building. EnerNOC delivers EfficiencySMART services to this property, along with many other commercial and institutional facilities by contracting directly with individual companies, like Sears, or by contracting with utilities to offset installation and initial subscription fees. The types of energy efficiency measures identified are typically no-cost or low-cost opportunities, making EfficiencySMART Commissioning a highly capital-efficient and immediately impactful solution. For Sears, EfficiencySMART is expected to deliver annual savings of approximately 8 percent of the facility's addressable energy spend, primarily through operational measures.

"We're helping more and more companies accelerate energy efficiency results by adopting better energy management practices. EfficiencySMART Commissioning helps even finely-tuned buildings, like Sears's headquarters, take efficiency to the next level and drive immediate bottom line results," said Tim Healy, Chairman and CEO of EnerNOC.

The EfficiencySMART suite of applications and services is designed to deliver energy savings to customers through the lifecycle of energy efficiency management and complement EnerNOC's other suites of energy management applications and services. The EfficiencySMART suite includes three products: Insight, web-based enterprise energy monitoring; Services, energy engineering and project design; and Commissioning, formerly known as SiteSMART.

EfficiencySMART Commissioning combines advanced metering technology and data analysis software to drive insights into energy usage in buildings. The technology continuously filters thousands of data points captured from each facility to identify energy savings opportunities. EnerNOC analysts then package the results into clear, actionable recommendations so that facility management teams can reduce energy consumption, prioritize maintenance issues, and enhance occupant comfort. Coupled with traditional retro-commissioning services, EnerNOC's EfficiencySMART application detects "drifts" in optimal facility performance on a continuous basis and ensures the persistence of energy savings.

EnerNOC's EfficiencySMART utility customers include Commonwealth Edison, NSTAR, National Grid, and Pacific Gas & Electric.
