AudioCodes Mediant(TM) 5000 Gateways Enable Transit Connectivity for Dozens of YMax Core Network Locations to the PSTN, Providing a High Quality Voice Service to YMax's VoIP Customers

LOD, Israel, Dec. 13, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- AudioCodes (Nasdaq:AUDC), a leading provider of Voice over IP (VoIP) technologies and Voice Network products, today announced that YMax Communications Corporation, a subsidiary of VocalTec, (the inventor of VoIP) and the network provider for the magicJack™ and magicTalk™ VoIP service offerings, has selected AudioCodes' Mediant 5000/8000 High Availability Gateways to enable high quality VoIP connectivity to the PSTN in dozens of its core Switch locations in the United States.

By replacing existing media gateways from another vendor and increasing its previously installed base of AudioCodes' media gateways, YMax has leveraged the Mediant 5000 carrier-grade gateways to connect its core VoIP switches into local PSTN services. Utilizing the Mediant 5000 redundancy, scalability and advanced voice processing capabilities, YMax can provide its wide base of magicJack VoIP customers superb voice quality and a high level of service availability. As part of the solution, another subsidiary of VocalTec, Stratus Telecommunications, provided the ENTICE SoftSwitch and core Session Border Controller (SBC).

"Expanding our deployment of AudioCodes' gateways is an essential component that allows us to continue providing the very best voice quality to our customers," said Dan Borislow, YMax Founder and CEO, and the inventor of the magicJack. "AudioCodes' gateways provide us with the ability to grow to any size with full redundancy. After utilizing AudioCodes' gateways for a number of years in our larger sites, in line with our strategic gowth plans, it became evident that we needed to implement AudioCodes' gateways exclusively."

During the short deployment period, AudioCodes and YMax service teams have performed the replacement of existing gateways and installation of the Mediant 5000 gateways in just five days at many different YMax sites across the United States.

"We are pleased that YMax has once again selected our gateways to fulfill their commitment to provide high quality and resilient VoIP and TDM service to their customers," said Lior Aldema, Chief Operating Officer at AudioCodes. "Emerging service providers such as YMax find a natural partner in AudioCodes thanks to our gateways' robust architecture meeting their most stringent requirements for high availability."
