International science and education association TDWG adopts premier modeling tool for development of its standards framework.
CRESWICK, AUSTRALIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 18, 2011) - Sparx Systems (www.sparxsystems.com), a leading vendor of modeling tools based on open standards, today announced that its award winning UML tool, Enterprise Architect, has been adopted for use by the Taxonomic Databases Working Group (TDWG) in the development of the TDWG Domain Model.
The adoption of Enterprise Architect by TDWG, which occurred in December 2010, has heightened significance as the year was declared as the International Year of Biodiversity by the United Nations. Enterprise Architect will support the TDWG in working toward the key aim of the declaration "to increase understanding of the vital role that biodiversity plays in sustaining life on Earth."
TDWG standards are currently used by many key biodiversity projects including the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF), the Encyclopedia of Life (EOL) and the Atlas of Living Australia (ALA).
